I’m excited to announce that my books, In Sheep’s Clothing and The Devil’s Due, are finally converted and live as ePubs on Barnes & Nobles, Apple iBook Store, and Kobo! An Eye For An Eye will also be available by mid-April.

Today is St. Patrick’s Day and I thought I would share what’s on the menu in my house. Being Irish American means a “traditional” meal of corned beef and cabbage, along with Irish Soda bread, potatoes smothered with Kerrygold butter, and of course a good Irish beer, like Guinness or Smithwick’s. But is this really a meal that traces its roots back to the Emerald Isle? Sadly, no. The reality is that until very recently, beef was a luxury that most Irish could never afford. So tomorrow, Dubliners are more likely to be found dining on lamb, pork or bacon. And you would never find someone from County Cork putting green dye in their beer. Saints preserve us! Corned Beef is purely an American tradition. Still, it’s one I grew up with. You can find my favorite easy to make recipes here if you’d like:

Happy National PI Day!

Day 4 without power. No running water. 19 degrees outside. Only heat is from our wood burning stove.

Wow! What a wacky winter. When there should normally be a foot or more of snow outside with temps in the teens, it’s almost 60, the ground is clear and “severe thundershowers” are in the area. And this is after several days of near-seventy-degree, bright-blue-sky weather.
Looking out the window reminded me so much of Ireland on a winter day that I decided to crack open a Guinness and share a couple of thoughts and a Freebie. First, the Freebie. I’ve decided to give my historical thriller, The Devil’s Due, away for FREE. For Free? You ask. Yup. That’s right. Why do that? You counter. Is this your first Guinness or your 10th?

As to your most pressing question: Yes, this is my first Guinness. And as to your unasked question: Yes, it’s after 5. And as to why I would give the product of my blood, sweat and tears away for free, it’s all about exposure.

Here’s what a few people had to say about The Devil’s Due

  • Grady Harp, Amazon Top 100 Hall of Fame Reviewer, says, The Devil’s Due “… is a solid novel by a writer who obviously has ample talent to push him to the top of the heap of contemporary thriller/historic fiction writers.”
  • The Vigilant Reader Book Review stated, “The Devil’s Due is without doubt the best book I’ve read this year.”

Despite great reviews, I haven’t been able to get this book rolling like my fist two novels. So I am giving it to you for free in the hopes that you will help me spread the word by leaving a review on Amazon.

Now I won’t tell you what to say in your review. That’s entirely up to you. And, frankly, there’s no way for me to even check to see if you leave a review at all. But I believe that if I can just get this book in your hands, you’ll be as wowed as others who’ve read it and you’ll feel so compelled to say thanks that you’ll find a way to share it with your friends.

It’s that simple.

How do you get your free book, you ask? Just click on the link below:

You can pick up an eBook copy of The Devil’s Due for FREE for 1 day only on Saturday, February, 25th:

Now as to my thoughts—I told you I had a few thoughts in addition to the freebie—here goes:

Many people recently had their first taste of the process of democracy when they voted last November. Now, many of those same first-time voters, along with many polling-booth veterans, were sorely disappointed in the results. Actually, sorely disappointed does not come close to capturing the depth of outrage, dismay, frustration and fear that I’ve seen on social media. The emotion is palpable. For many, these are dark days indeed.

Yet, there are many who are elated, happy that their voices were finally heard.

But I suspect there’s a large contingent out there who are more in the middle, who are cautiously hopeful, who believe that we’ll find a way through the next four years. But here’s the thing. They’re right. We will make it through the next four years. Whether you’re a republican or a democrat, whether you voted for Trump or not, whether you think he’s doing a great job or a terrible one, all I can say is, we’ll get through this as long as we continue to listen to each other.

So, if you’re a Trump fan, remember that many on the other side are hurting. Try and find a way to reach out and build a bridge. Try and find some common ground, something that brings you closer instead of staking out a position that will only drive you further apart.

And if you absolutely detest the man currently occupying the White House, reach out to the other side anyway and try to find some connection.

I think it’s time to remember that the other side–be it on the left or on the right–is more like you than you might want to admit. They go to school, they have jobs, they have families, they have kids, they have hopes and dreams, and they face life’s daily struggles, just like you. Despite the rhetoric on social media, I believe there’s far more that unites us than divides us. If we reach out, listen more and speak less, we might just find it.

One thing I know for sure is that the United States will be here four years from now despite the man currently sitting in the Oval Office. This too shall pass.

In the past, we’ve faced challenges—challenges that threaten to tear us further apart, just like this. But we’ve always risen to the occasion and we’ve always found a way to come together. And frankly, we’re a stronger country for it.

Remember, we’re in this together.

As always thanks for your support!
